Primary colors

These Lego tableaus are pretty amazing. A far cry from the usual Lego art -- Abu Ghraib torture scenes and Obama's Inauguration. All we need is Aretha's hat...maybe they just couldn't do the bow justice. Even great artists have their limits.

The Guardian has a fun piece about Lego's popularity (there are apparently 62 Lego pieces for every person on the planet):

If it weren't for the built-in SARS guard (?), this design would seem to be straight out of the 80s.

On a related note, does anyone else think this looks like something from a musical interlude on Flight of the Conchords?

Even mermaids get the blues

Things are tough all over. But you and I could have it worse. We could be mermaids made of felt, destined for a life of bloat and sag (without the benefit of underwire, Eileen Fisher, and hair products). Count your blessings.

A little crafting humor

This is obviously an April Fools joke. Everyone knows that hand-crafted bathroom wipes are made of cotton, and come in convenient reusable squares:

One of a kind? Really?

This creeps me out. The $400 price tag is arguably even more disturbing.

Says the seller:

Wigged with Tibetan lamb, Tarbh is dressed in linen, microsuede, and leather. His horns are polymer clay, and he holds an artificial rose.

Do we have a sale?

Nice ribs

Combine this stylish torso-warmer with a shrug, some arm-warmers, and wrist cozies to create something almost as warm as a sweater.

As seen on the Martha Stewart Show, apparently. Maybe this is one of the other creations she learned how to make while in the big house? (Remember her famous liberation-night poncho?)

Hand soap that will make you want to take a shower

I don't understand the appeal of food-shaped soap. Whose idea was this? And can you think of anything nastier than washing your hands with this unfortunately realistic creation? And of course, it will only get nicer looking as the days and weeks go by. Yuck.

Cuteness is next to saintliness

You know what? I kind of love these too -- as anyone named Marian Theresa would.

It's a good thing my 93-year-old grandmother doesn't go online. This way she'll be surprised when I give her one of these at Easter. I think I'll go with Padre Pio, whose brilliant, neurotic-friendly quote I like to remind myself of from time to time (no joke!). As you can see, it's sewn onto his butt here: Pray, hope, and don't worry. Wise words, people.

This sweet, befuddled little person makes me smile. What's going on here? Monkey hat, red tutu, middle of the desert...this isn't an Etsy listing, it's Anne Heche's lost weekend all over again. (Just kidding!) But seriously, this is a strange little tableau, no? Who wears fire-engine red with latte and oatmeal?

Nothing says quality wine like a football logo, particularly in the off season. Also, is this bottle sitting on someone's bed pillow? I find that disconcerting.
